Wearing a VR Headset while working on the simulator helps immerse the trainee into a virtual operating room. The virtual environment includes a true-to-life operating setting, featuring the OR team, the patient, OR equipment and sound diversions.
In addition to practicing the actual procedure, working in such an environment teaches the learner how to cope with the stressful, and at times distracting, operating room atmosphere.
